Objectives

1.Provide insight to the EMS community concerning the problems of narcotic diversion and substance abuse among prehospital professionals. Develop educational materials and programs to assist the EMS community in the recognition of tampered-with controlled substances. Promote model protocols regarding the use, storage, disposal, and documentation of controlled substances in the prehospital setting, including procedures for handling suspected tampering and suspected chemical dependency.

2.Assist in creating a diversion/wellness program for prehospital professionals, that is consistent with proven occupational programs specific to the recovery from chemical dependency.
